چکیده

2014 The quantum Boltzmann equation governing the evolution of the one-body internal density matrix of an atomic hydrogen (or alkali) gas is established. Indistinguishability of both nuclei and electrons explains the presence in the collision term of a large number (eleven) of « exchange cross sections ». The different collision terms fall into two categories : these which contribute to the damping of perturbations (similar to the usual collision term in the classical regime) and those which are Hamiltonian like and originate from the « identical spin rotation effect ». Due to those numerous exchange terms, all transport properties in atomic hydrogen are very sensitive to the internal state of the gas. J. Physique 46 (1985) 1101-1112 JUILLET 1985,

The Quantum Statistical Mechanical Theory of Transport Processes

A new derivation of the quantum Boltzmann transport equation for the Fermion system from the quantum time evolution equation for the wigner distribution function is presented. The method exhibits the origin of the time - irreversibility of the Boltzmann equation. In the present work, the spin dependent and indistinguishibility of particles are also considered.

Trapping hydrogen atoms from a neon-gas matrix: a theoretical simulation.

Hydrogen is of critical importance in atomic and molecular physics and the development of a simple and efficient technique for trapping cold and ultracold hydrogen atoms would be a significant advance. In this study we simulate a recently proposed trap-loading mechanism for trapping hydrogen atoms released from a neon matrix. Accurate ab initio quantum calculations are reported of the neon-hydr...

Rovibrationally Resolved Time-Dependent Collisional-Radiative Model of Molecular Hydrogen and Its Application to a Fusion Detached Plasma

A novel rovibrationally resolved collisional-radiative model of molecular hydrogen that includes 4,133 rovibrational levels for electronic states whose united atom principal quantum number is below six is developed. The rovibrational XΣg population distribution in a SlimCS fusion demo detached divertor plasma is investigated by solving the model time dependently with an initial 300 K Boltzmann ...

Atomic Hydrogen and Molecular Carbon Emissions in Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy

This article addresses hydrogen Balmer series measurements following laser-induced optical breakdown. Electron density on the order of 1 × 10 m−3 can be inferred using Hα Stark width and shift for plasma generated in 1 to 1.3 × 10 Pa, gaseous hydrogen. The Hβ line can be utilized for electron density up to 7 × 10 m−3. Laser ablation of aluminium reveals limits of application of the Balmer serie...

High frequency behavior of the Maxwell-Bloch model with relaxation: convergence to the Schrödinger-rate system

We study the Maxwell-Bloch model, which describes the propagation of a laser through a material and the associated interaction between laser and matter (polarization of the atoms through light propagation, photon emission and absorption, etc.). The laser field is described through Maxwell’s equations, a classical equation, while matter is represented at a quantum level and satisfies a quantum L...
